A heavy, sizzling slab of aggressive, old-school alt-rock, the debut single from Athens/Atlanta combo Deaf Condors is an electrifying introduction to the outfit’s strengths. Calling to mind at turns the dry, raw power of Steve Albini, the vertiginous swagger of The White Stripes, and the stubborn badassery of early metal, “Vamos” stalks from thunderous crunch-chords to hypnotic grooves to the shrieked Spanish of the vocals like a predator outlining their territory; perhaps a great, dark bird of prey circling overhead, its ears ringing from the potency of the pure, cleansing volume of the sound it uses to express and defend itself. These rock-n-rollers prove they are not to be trifled with here, and have whetted your appetites for their debut full-length, dropping June 11th.
